Carbon Commons v1.0.0 Release Notes

For historical purposes, posting release notes for the initial release of the production Carbon Commons portal (v1.0.0) on Mar. 25, 2011.

  • Established an initial Carbon Commons portal based on the GeoChronos portal (http://geochronos.org/), which is built on the Elgg open source social networking platform. Essentially all of the collaboration features of the GeoChronos portal were adopted, including contacts, groups, messages, discussions, activity feeds, notifications, document/media sharing, wiki like functionality, blogs, microblogs, bookmarks, profile, dashboard, publications, presentations,
  • Upgraded the portal to the latest version of Elgg (Elgg 1.7.7)
  • Did some customization of the site to remove the GeoChronos thematic elements and tune it towards CMC/IPAC community
  • Created a preliminary site logo based on a CMC-NCE and IPAC-CO2 logos
  • Upgraded the Group Custom Layout plugin, which added group
    activity, RSS feed and Free HTML widgets to the group dashboard
  • Added links for “Help”, “Terms” and “About” in the top menu bar
  • various bug fixes
