Dr. sc. ETH Zurich (Chemical Engineering)
Currently, I am working as a postdoc in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary. My research project is Fluidized Bed Catalytic Gasification of Low-Grade Coals and Petcoke (Theme A02), which is funded by Carbon Management Canada (CMC) and involves researchers from six different Canadian institutions (UBC, Alberta, Calgary, Saskatchewan, Toronto, and École Polytechnique). More precise, I am interested in the kinetics of the catalytic gasification reactions. Understanding the reaction mechanisms and determining the kinetic parameters allows us to design a low cost gasifier and to optimize the gasification process in order to reduce the carbon footprint.
I am a chemical engineer by trainee and I received my Doctor of Scienes from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Zurich, Switzerland). I worked on the production of synthetic natural gas from wood, so called BioSNG. SNG is gaseous biofuel which is interchangable with natural gas, thus the whole existing gas distribution infrastructure and the established end-use technology can be used.
